purpose service vision Aug 27, 2018


I have written about this before, but it came up as an important talk at a recent event in Florida.  

An advisor attending the event recognized the need for a full client service model makeover for his practice, but was wondering if his Administrative Assistant could enact the change in the practice.  

He is too busy… 

This I roughly equivalent to the CEO of a company asking if a middle manager could re-envision the primary deliverable of the company and manage the roll-out.  


No! The Administrative Assistant cannot be in charge of figuring out this client service model thing.  

I fully understand where he is coming from with this. He is already busy, he is looking for a way to make this happen without impacting his already busy schedule.  

It is just not realistic.  

This is what building your practice on PURPOSE means. You have to be willing to step back, create the vision and then roll up your sleeves and do the work.  

Once you have a clear vision with detailed actions that need to be taken, your staff should absolutely be part of the process! 

  • Who in the practice knows exactly WHO you are here to serve? 
  • Who in the practice has years of EXPERIENCE serving your clients? 
  • Who in the practice is fully licensed and credentialed…QUALIFIED to define comprehensive planning for your clients?
  • Who in the practice knows WHAT your clients really need?  
  • Who in the practice is going to be RESPONSIBLE for communicating the change to current and new clients? 


You just cannot outsource vision.  

You as the business owner have to spearhead the process of intentionally building a business on PURPOSE.  


And when you do, you will be rewarded with a more valuable, efficient business that does more meaningful work for clients. And your staff will be grateful for your leadership!
